2020 keeps on surprising us. One of the latest in the world of football was to do with the retirement of Varazdat Haroyan to defend Armenia in the war against Azerbaijan.
Most of the world assumed he had retired. But that is far from the truth. Haroyan is with the national team and has offers from Russia.
It was his agent who spoke to 'El Periodico' and denied that Haroyan had joined the army. "I don't know where that has come from and whether Larissa published that because they were frustrated at not being able to sign him," Daniel Azin, the player's agent said.
Everything came to light after a message published by AEL Larrisa: "Haroyan told us that his move to AEL is off, at least for this transfer window because the footballer, like all Armenian citizens up to the age of 40, has been signed up and is now on the battlefield," they said.
Vadazfat Haroyan is not in the Nagorno Karabaj with the Armenian army, but with the national team. That is coached by Joaquin Caparros.
