Olympiakos defender Ruben Semedo was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 17 year old girl, local media in Greece reported.
The former Villarreal player, 27, was arrested at his home in Glyfada, on the outskirts of Athens, after the girl reported it in the Atica region in Athens.
According to the media, the complaint, which was lodged on Sunday, the girl says she met Semedo in a bar in Oropos, on the outskirts of Athens. The girl claims Semedo got her drunk and took to his home, where he raped her.
The Portuguese footballer will appear at the local public prosecutor's office on Monday.
Semedo played for Portugal U21s on 10 occasions and was at Villarreal between 2017 and 2019.
After his poor performances in the game against Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the Champions League, which saw Ludogorets get knocked out, the club were thinking of loaning him out. It was reported that Torino and Porto had shown interest.
The Portuguese has been in prison in the past for tying up, hitting and keeping a man hostage.
