The 'Colchoneros' had frustrated the hosts for some 53 minutes, with Jan Oblak in the visiting goal particularly impressive, but the when breakthrough came there was nothing the Solvenian could do.
Gareth Bale was given far too much space to cross down the left and he picked out Ronaldo in the middle.
The Portuguese dropped off the shoulder of his marker at the far post before meeting the cross plum on the volley, with his effort flashing past Oblak and into the bottom corner.
It was an excellent demonstration of timing, movement and technique from the Real Madrid star.
Ronaldo has now scored in his last 10 games for Real Madrid, with February 3 the last time he didn't find the net.
