Cristiano Ronaldo's release clause remains at €1bn, according to Spanish outlet 'Mundo Deportivo', who claim to have received information from sources within Real Madrid.
'OK Diario' published an article a few days ago stating that Ronaldo and Real had come to an agreement to drop the forward's release clause down to €120m, presumably to pave a way for his exit. This rumoured new clause was not applicable for PSG or Barcelona, but it meant that other clubs would find it a lot easier to negotiate for the Portuguese international.
However, these new reports rubbish this article, stating that Ronaldo's release clause hasn't been touched. 'Marca' are in agreement, stating that he will still cost any interested parties €1bn, however they qualify this by saying that the club would be ready to let the 33-year-old leave as long as it was to a destination like the MLS or the Chinese League.
The deputy director of 'Marca' published the following on his Twitter account: "One thing is that Madrid would be willing to allow his exit to an exotic destination. They wouldn't let him leave to a direct rival in the Champions League or La Liga."
Therefore it seems that there is a consensus: Ronaldo's release clause hasn't changed. The Portuguese star still costs €1bn.
