The then PSG player had taken the world by storm as was on the shopping list of Europe's biggest sides. After David Beckham was warming to a transfer away, Alex Ferguson approached Ronaldinho, hoping to bring the trickster to Manchester United.
In an interview with 'FourFourTwo,' Ronaldinho revealed he was ultimately more tempted by a move to Barca: "It almost happened. It was a matter of 48 hours but Sandro Rosell had told me way before I got the offer: 'If I become Barca president, will you come?' I said yes."
"I told the English I had chosen Barca. It was the right choice. Brazilians have always loved Barca. We have a history there. Off the pitch it is like nowhere else in Europe, so we are always happy playing there. I miss Barcelona a lot," he added, reminiscing on his time in Catalonia.
Interestingly, the midfielder revealed he also held discussions with Blackburn in 2011 but opted for a move back to his home country instead.
Ronaldinho is one of football's great journeymen. After his time at Barcelona, the Brazilian had spells at AC Milan, Flamengo, Atletico Mineiro, Queretaro and Fluminense before retiring in 2015.
