Roma are beginning the new era with Jose Mourinho in charge and he will need a left-back to be able to play the way he wants. That is what 'Sky Sport' say. They report that Matias Vina, who was excellent for Uruguay at the Copa America, is the main candidate.
The problem is that his club, Palmeiras, have no intention of selling him for less than 18 million euros. Roma understand that they could get him for a cheaper price, so they are trying to get him through negotiations. Those, however, are still at an initial phase.
The Brazilians have the upper hand when it comes to talks as the player's contract runs until 2024. The Italians have the other option of trying to persuade the footballer personally so that he puts pressure on the board to let him go. That could make the outcome more favourable, but we still do not know what Vina wants to do.
Matias Vina is a very interesting left back for any club, as well as for Roma. It is usual to see him get to the by-line, he is 23 years old and he shone mainly in the 2019-20 season. He also has presence in the areas when he is asked to do so by the bench.
