One of the key things for Roma is trying to get Chris Smalling back. The central defender shone when on loan there from Man Utd and the Italians have been working all summer on his return. It is starting to look very difficult though.
The problem is that it is not viable financially, something which they have been seeing for a while and the Roma sporting director and his team have been weighing up Armando Izzo as a back up option. He is a central defender for Torino.
The problem is that Roma have not given up on Smalling and this could end up backfiring. 'Sport Mediaset' says that Fiorentina have now got in contact with Torino to ask about Izzo.
'La Viola' have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy the player later. Torino prefer to sell him for around 15 million euros. Conversations are ongoing and Roma need to make sure they do not miss out on him.
