Whilst Edin Dzeko's style of play does not reflect Salah's in any way, shape or form, the Bosnian has certainly been the man to have countered the loss of the flying flanker.
Dzeko is a throwback to a bygone era, interested only in putting the ball in the back of the net and making life a misery for opposing defenders.
The Liverpool man on the other hand is arguably a much more rounded player, who can create goals for himself as well as the players around him.
Whilst the two could scarcely be more different the result for their clubs has been the same, with both sides qualifying for the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Following a number of barren years in Europe's premier club competition, the pair have been key to their side's fortunes, with Salah bagging eight goals and laying on three assists in Liverpool's march to the last four, leaving him behind only Crsitiano Ronaldo in the scoring charts.
However, Dzeko's stats also match up, with the former Manchester City man having scored six and set up another four in his 10 appearances in the competition.
The only two games that he failed to contribute to a goal in where the Group Stage clashes against Atletico Madrid, in which the Italians failed to find the net, but Dzeko's real importance has come in the knockout phase.
He laid on Roma's only goal in the 2-1 first leg defeat to Shakhtar in the last 16, before scoring the winner in a 1-0 second leg triumph to send his side through on away goals. In the quarters, he scored what appeared to be a mere consolation in the first leg against Barcelona at the Camp Nou (4-1), before putting in a superb display that produced a goal and an assist as Roma turned the tie on its head at the Stadio Olimpico.
Whilst Salah is the heartbeat of this Liverpool side, the same can be said of Dzeko and Roma. In a matter of hours, the pair will go to battle at Anfield, with there only space in Kiev for one of them.
