It was a surprising decision by Barcelona to sign Jean-Clair Todibo in the winter transfer window. The 19 year-old player was brought to the club with the future in mind, but he is still yet to play a competitive game for the club since he has only played in the Catalan Super Cup. Now, just a couple of months after his transfer, the youngster is looking to have more game time next season in order to continue with his progression.
In these days, a possible loan deal with Ajax has been mooted to make the signing of De Ligt easier and the option of Roma has also become more likely in recent hours according to 'Mundo Deportivo'. The Italian club has done a lot of business with Barcelona in the past, like the Vermaelen loan deal and would look to reinforce the defence given Kostas Manolas' more than possible exit.
Jeison Murillo will not continue at Barcelona beyond the end of the season and Vermaelen is not expected to renew his contract. This would give Todibo an possiblity of playing for the Catalan side. That said, despite the fact he can also play as a midfielder, it seems clear that both the club and the player are interested in a loan deal which is beneficial for everyone. There is where Roma will have a big say in whether Todibo changes club next season.
