Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in last season's Champions League final in Paris. A goal from Vinicius decided the match which saw the trophy return to the Bernabeu for the fourteenth time.
Vinicius' goal took a while to come and with the match in the balance, Carlo Ancelotti took a while before making his substitutions. Rodrygo revealed on 'Bola da Vez' that he was desperate to get on the pitch.
"It was a difficult match for me because of everything I did in the semi-finals, I was desperate to get on. I'm sure that if he gave me more time, I would've scored. I had this feeling inside of me. I really wanted to get on. Towards the end of the match I started to fight with Ancelotti. I said to him: 'I have to play, I have to play'. He said 'Calm down, I'm going to put you on", he revealed.
But the minutes went by and Ancelotti did not make any changes. "I'm not sure what minute it was but it was almost at the end of the game. I said 'Coach, are you not going to play me?'. He said 'relax, we have to see out the game'. The clash was at 1-0 and at times the team wanted to tighten up a little more".
Then, Rodrygo burst out. "I let loose, 'Caramba, we're here because of me no? I have to play'. He said: 'No, chill out, you're going to play'. Then he put me on...", he reflected.
Rodrygo was 'fighting' with Ancelotti until the 93rd minute remembered the footballer whilst laughing about it: "The important thing is the title. And of course, history was written in the semi-finals and I'm very happy about that".
