Rodgers has another fantastic season with Celtic, as the Glasgow side waltzed to the league title and look set to secure a domestic treble. This has earnt him the Manager of the Year award in the Scottish Premiership, and speaking at the ceremony where he was given the award, Rodgers was asked for his thoughts on next season.
Specifically, he was asked if he thought that rivals Rangers would pose more of a threat with the arrival of new manager Steven Gerrard. Gerrard and Rodgers know each other well from their time together at Liverpool, however although Rodgers admitted it would be harder for Celtic next season, he didn't attribute this to Gerrard.
"I would expect whoever was in charge at Rangers for it to be tougher," he said.
"That's how football works, each year it gets tougher and more difficult and that will be no different, whoever was taking charge, whether it was Steven or anyone else."
"The competition was always there and it will be next season. We have to improve again next season which we will do, both individually and as a team."
