Belgium manager, the Spaniard Roberto Martínez, will remain in his role for 2 more years until after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, several Belgian media sources informed on Saturday.
According to the newspaper 'Le Soir' and 'Het Laatste Nieuws', Martínez and the Belgian Federation have reached a deal to prolong the manager's contract for two more years, although lawyers on both sides are refining the legal details of the contract, the signing of which will depend on the evolution of the health situation generated by the coronavirus.
The Belgian news agency indicated that the Belgian Federation ruled out commenting on the news and said that they will inform when the Spaniard's contract has been signed, which still hasn't happened.
Anyway, a source close to the negotiations told 'Het Laatste Nieuws' that "without an administrative catastrophe", Martínez will remain as Belgium manager until after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In February, the manager already affirmed that he will extend his deal when his current one runs out this year.
Martínez took Belgium to a historic 3rd place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
