Teenagers Jadon Sancho and Trent Alexander-Arnold were two of the standout performers for England against the USA at Wembley on Thursday, with the former even providing an assist for the latter's first international goal.
Former England man Jamie Redknapp has since insisted that it is about time the English top flight elite give stars like this a chance in the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold is a mainstay in a title-challenging Liverpoool side, while Sancho is making his way in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund; both took the chance to make their full home debuts at Wembley, each playing excellently for the full 90 minutes of the game.
Therefore,'Sky Sports' pundit Jamie Redknapp thinks that it is time for Premier League manager to 'be brave' and give young English stars a chance at club level.
Redknapp said: "It's a major problem in this country, the kids don't get the chance. There will be so many players who get wasted, don't get the opportunities after the academies, who are as talented as these two, but aren't getting the opportunities!"
He added: "You need a manager who is going to throw you in! And not just throw you in for one game, keep persevering with this talent. "
The former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur player concluded:"The academy system from eight, nine, 10 years of age, I go and watch these young players, they have the talent. They just need the opportunity. They need a brave manager to give them a chance."
