Real Sociedad to appeal second yellow to Illarramendi
Real Sociedad were knocked out of the Copa del Rey this Tuesday after losing to Real Betis 3-1 in a match which was impacted by the red card to Asier Illarramendi.
When it was 0-1 to Real Sociedad, the referee gave a second yellow card to the midfielder which left his team with ten men for most of the second half.
But Real Sociedad think the yellow card should not have been given and so they have decided to appeal it. They have mentioned this on social media.
"Real Sociedad have decided to appeal the second yellow card Asier Illarramendi received this Tuesday. The club defends that there is a clear and obvious error in the referee's match report because there is no contact by the player who was booked which would bring down an opponent," the message reads.
