Karim Benzema's discomfort at Real Madrid's morning training session on Friday was just a minor scare. Shortly after several media outlets reported that the Frenchman could miss the match against the Andalusian club, the 'Merengues' confirmed their squad-list and the striker is in it.
Thibaut Courtois is also in the squad-list, having finally recovered from a sciatica that has affected him for weeks. In fact, in his pre-match press conference, Carlo Ancelotti said that the Belgian will start again, although we will have to wait and see if there are any last-minute surprises.
The players called up by the Italian coach are: Courtois, Lunin, Luis Lopez; Carvajal, Militao, Alava, Vallejo, Nacho, Odriozola, Lucas Vazquez, Rudiger, Mendy; Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Fede Valverde, Tchouameni; Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Vinicius and Rodrygo. Ceballos was the big absentee; Mariano is also unavailable.
It remains to be seen, on the visit of Sevilla, whether Karim Benzema is fit enough to start from the beginning. Madrid need him for important games in the coming weeks, although the player has the World Cup in Qatar just around the corner. Like any top professional, he is looking forward to it without any problems.
