Real Madrid have released the official medical report for Ferland Mendy, who was forced off the pitch in the Copa del Rey quarter-final derby against Atletico Madrid due to muscular discomfort.
As the 'Merengues' have informed through its official website, the 27-year-old French left-back suffers an injury in the semimembranosus muscle of his left leg.
This muscle is part of the hamstring and is the first prolonged absence of the Welsh player this season after missing 14 games last season due to various muscle injuries.
Mendy underwent various medical tests this Tuesday morning by the medical staff of the club and the results have determined the extent of the muscle injury he is suffering from.
Following this diagnosis, the former Olympique Lyon player is still awaiting further developments. Although the club have not informed us how long Mendy could be out for, according to 'EFE', the absence is estimated at two months, depending on the progress of the player, so he could return at the end of March or the beginning of April.
This is Real Madrid's official medical statement on Mendy:
"Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Ferland Mendy, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his left leg. His recovery will be monitored".
