Pochettino's claims that the Real Madrid club president, Florentino Perez, would not allow the Tottenham Hotspur team to stay at the club's training facilities have been addressed by the club via a statement released on Friday via the official website.
Tottenham are due to face Liverpool in the Champions League final that will be held at Atletico Madrid's ground, the Wanda Metropolitano on 1st June. The Argentine reportedly asked Florentino Perez if it was possible for the team to stay at Real Madrid's training facility in the build up.
"I asked if it was possible for us to sleep in the Sports Center but Pérez told me I could only sleep there when I became the Real Madrid coach."
On Friday, the statement released reveals that Real Madrid are "surprised by Mauricio Pochettino's statements" and "wanted to make it clear that the request was never made.
"All requests made to Real Madrid have referred only and exclusively to the use of Ciudad Real Madrid's training pitches and changing rooms. And all of them have been granted by our club.
"Thus, Liverpool plan to train in our facilities on Saturday morning, June 1st. Tottenham, for their part, will train on Thursday 30th May and Friday 31st May."
Real Madrid reiterated that "at no time was the club asked" whether those teams could reside at the club's training facilities in the lead up to the final.
