Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu ever since he broke into the spotlight with Chelsea. Yet after shelving plans to recruit Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen, Real Madrid are willing to pay whatever it takes, to ensure Hazard finally makes the switch to the Spanish capital.
According to Spanish outlet 'AS', the European Champions are planning a thorough overhaul of their playing squad in the close season, and wish to rebuild a team for the future around the Belgian forward. Given that the 28 year old's contract is due to expire in 2020, the summer presents the perfect opportunity for Madrid to make their move, as current club Chelsea will want to extract the biggest possible fee for their talisman.
The Spanish newspaper also alleged that Real have given up any potential pursuit of Christian Eriksen, as they have no desire to enter into another transfer tussle with Tottenham.
So, with Hazard at the peak of his powers this season, having scored 13 goals and registered 10 assists in all competitions, it seems that Madrid have found the most opportune moment to strike a deal for the player.
