What a way to start off the La Liga season! Celta Vigo took on Real Madrid at Balaidos, in what was an action-packed game.
It started off very bright for Madrid, with them showing a lot of positives throughout the first ten minutes. K. Benzema scored to give Real Madrid the lead in the 12th minute and to surely lift the hopes of many critical fans.
Although Madrid did not have much possession of the ball, when they did, they made it count. Luca Modric recieved a red card for a stud tackle on Suarez's ankle, in what was deemed as violent play, therefore it was a straight red for the Madrid man.
Celta had a chance to equalise just before half time with a goal from Aspas, however after being VAR checked, it was ruled offside, in what could be said was an extremely narrow offside decision, this goal could have changed the game completely.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Real Madrid came into the second half with optimism after a good first half performance and they soon doubled their lead, thanks to a stunning goal from Kroos, which was 40 yards out, there was no stopping that goal for Ruben! Shocking the home side.
Gareth Bale was subbed off after the 74th minute, after his surprise appearance in the starting XI. Bale had a great game and even came away with an assist of the first goal. Shortly before the 80th minute, Madrid sealed their win with a third goal from Vazquez, with a controlled finish into the bottom corner.
After a scuffle in Celta's box early into the 90th minute, they manage to counter and take advantage of most of Madrid's men being up in attack, Losada scores a bit of a consolation goal after an assist from Diop.
Real Madrid remained calm throughout the game and took advantage of attack when it mattered the most, that was the difference between the two teams in today's clash. Real Madrid will no doubt be in high spirits due to this great performance.
The game ended 1-3, with Zinedine Zidane surely being delighted as his teams performance and their victory! Zidane has faced a lot of criticism over a steady preseason and so needed a win today to regain the fans support and build up some confidence, for his team and for him.
