Real Madrid put Bellingham move on pause for Modric and Kroos

Jude Bellingham's future is still an unknown. Even though the England international is under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2025, at the end of the season, he could leave the German side to start a new adventure at another side.

That club could be Real Madrid. In fact, the 19 year old midfielder's possible arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu is being talked about almost everyday, but there's still nothing concrete.

The amount of money the German side are demanding to let their young star go is not convincing the 'Merengues', as the €150 million price tag could ultimately mean that the Spanish giants leave the fight.

That's why the Madrid side are thought to have already started looking for alternatives to Bellingham, and a plan B could be at Celta Vigo under the guise of Gabri Veiga.

As well as this, the Englishman's lack of decision is what's causing the standstill. The meeting which Bellingham had organised with Dortmund to resolve his future still hasn't taken place, because the payer, according to 'AS', is not in any rush to talk to his side about what he wants, as he's aware he can drag it out until the last few days of the transfer window whether he wants to swap Germany for Spain or not.

Faced with this situation, and aware that strengthening the midfield is a priority ahead of next season, the 'Merengues' have opted to wait for the player himself and whether Dortmund will reduce their €150 million asking price.

Meanwhile, the club from the Spanish capital are studying the possibility of going for Bellingham a season later, in the summer of 2024, when he's just got a year left on his contract and he'd be much cheaper. It all hinges on what happens with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who both have contracts until 2023, and still haven't signed a new deal.
