England has woken up this Sunday to big footballing news. According to an exclusive from the 'Sunday Mirror', Real Madrid have got their eyes on Man City youngster Phil Foden.
At just 20, this young English midfielder has only played for the Sky Blues. He has come through the academy before finally breaking into the first team. He has made 92 competitive appearances and scored 20 times.
His figures so far this season have been excellent considering his age: five goals and four assists in 18 competitive games, 12 of them as a starter.
There is no doubt that Foden would fit in perfectly with Real Madrid's policy of signing youngsters with lots of potential, but he is a vital player for Guardiola.
The newspaper also says that the La Liga outfit have had their eyes on Foden for several seasons and that they have seen Foden's significant improvement in the last few years.
No minutes against Liverpool and Man Utd
But as Foden has not played in a couple of being matches for City this term, Madrid are thinking are trying to sign him in January.
Foden would apparently be very happy to leave the Etihad if Guardiola does not count on him for important matches. For example, Foden was left on the bench for the matches with Liverpool and Man Utd.
