Fede Valverde is not in Real Madrid's squad after being isolated because he came into close contact with a positive case of COVID-19. A day after announcing the list and just a few hours before playing against Cadiz, the club confirmed the Uruguayan had tested positive for coronavirus.
"Real Madrid C. F. informs that our player, Fede Valverde, has tested positive in the COVID-19 test carried out today;" the club wrote on their website.
It is a positive case which will force the Uruguayan midfielder to self isolate for two weeks at home. That means he is unavailable for Zidane until then.
It is also a setback for the footballer mentally. After playing through painkillers at Anfield, where he had a great game, now he has been ruled out of the XI.
If his recovery goes as planned, Fede Valverde would miss the games against Cadiz this Wednesday, the first leg of the Champions League semi-final with Chelsea and the league match with Osasuna.
What we do not know is whether he will be back for the second leg at Stamford Bridge on 5th May. Zidane is without another key player for the upcoming matches.
