Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso named La Liga Manager of the Month

Real Madrid have started their 2025/26 La Liga campaign as expected: as one of the clear favourites to lift the title at the end of the season. Before the international break in September, the 'Merengues' were already leading the table. 

Xabi Alonso's side is the only team alongside Athletic Club to have secured three wins in their first three domestic league games, meaning that both the Madrid and Basque teams share the top of the table on nine points, something that not even Barcelona has been able to achieve. 

'Los Blancos 'claimed a narrow victory over Osasuna at home in their La Liga opener, a convincing 3-0 away win over Real Oviedo and a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu, making them the leaders of La Liga before the international break in September due to their goal difference. 

As a result, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has been named La Liga's best coach of August, thanks to his team's brilliant style of play and defensive solidity (1 goal conceded in three games and only from a set piece).
