Real Madrid ask for internal report after latest injuries

Real Madrid are getting into the business end of the season and they are doing so with the squad hit hard by injuries. Zinedine Zidane cannot remember the last time he had all of his players available. 

The straw which has broken the camel's back has been the absence of Karim Benzema for the game with Valladolid. The Frenchman suffered muscle problems which kept him out of training on Friday and he did not make the squad list. The absence of the French player, Madrid's main goalscorer, is a huge blow. 

Real Madrid will be without nine players for the meeting with Valladolid. A worrying about which has led to the request for an internal report to be made to study and analyse the possible cause of so many injuries. 

The club want to the find the root of the problem. sees the methods and, if necessary, find people responsible. They cannot afford to have so many footballers out before and during the most important part of the season. 

In the next month, Real Madrid will have three away games and three home ones which will practically define their season. They will be looking to get into the Champions League last 16 and they will have to travel to the Wanda in La Liga. That is their best chance of reducing the gap to Atletico. 

Real Madrid's top brass want to be up to date and know the reason why so many players are unavailable. There have been 41 injuries this season which come to a total of 823 days out, according to 'Marca' data. Real Madrid have the third most amount of injuries in Europe. 

One of the men being looked at closely is Dupont. He helped the team improve after the COVID-19 stoppage to take them to the La Liga title, but he is now under fire for the physical demands he puts on the players. Zidane has asked his squad not to rush their returns to action in a bid to prevent the recurrance of injuries.

The clearest example of Madrid's injury issues is the number of youngsters in the squad list to face Valladolid. Chust, Miguel, Arribas, Blanco and Hugo Duro all feature.
