According to Madrid based news outlet 'Marca' , Real Madrid and Manchester City remain at a standoff in negotiations for academy star Brahim Diaz, as they cannot agree a transfer fee for the player.
It is said that the Premier League champions are holding out for £20 million for the 19 year old attacking player, while the Spanish club are yet to offer more than £10 million.
Diaz is out of contract in the summer, and as such, City may want to move negotiations on in order to ensure that they do not lose Diaz for free.
The young Spaniard is desperate for more first- team football, having only featured a handful of times for Pep Guardiola's side so far this season.
Despite Diaz' departure moving ever closer, manager Guardiola insists that he does not want to see his compatriot leave the club. Yet Guardiola did concede that it is difficult to offer the player what he is asking for at present, as his squad is full of world-class talent.
The City boss stated: "We want Brahim here, the opinion we have of him is very good but in the end, he is competing with [Raheem] Sterling, [Leroy] Sane, [Riyad] Mahrez, Bernardo [Silva]. It is hard to get minutes. You can't imagine how hard it is to leave players like Brahim out of the team, I tell you that so often."
If Diaz does leave the Etihad, he will be the second young star to have left for pastures new within the space of two years, after Jadon Sancho, who is thriving at Borussia Dortmund.
