Similarly Barcelona were pronounced kings of the world in 2009, when they won 2-1 against Estudiantes de La Plata, in 2011 when they beat Brazilians Santos by 4-1 and in 2014 when they conquered River Plate 3-0.
Europe dominate the history of the Club World Cup with 10 crowns, as Milan, Inter, Manchester United and bayern Munich are all former champions to hail from that particular continent. South America have four, all of which were won by Brazilian teams; two by Corinthians, and one apiece for Sao Paulo and International.
