Real Betis announce the return of Junior Firpo

Spanish-Dominican left-back Junior Firpo has signed for Real Betis until June 2028, completing his return to the team where he developed. He was transferred from Real Betis to Barcelona, before joining Leeds United, where he has played for the last four seasons.
Junior Firpo, who turns 29 on 22 August, joined the Betis academy in 2014 after starting out in Malaga. He made his debut with the first team in 2018 and, after playing 43 matches, was transferred to Barcelona in 2019, where he spent two seasons before moving to England.
With two seasons in the Premier League and two in the Championship, Junior Firpo returns to Real Betis where, in principle and pending any eventual movements, he will compete on the left flank with Frenchman Romain Perraud and Swiss international Ricardo Rodríguez.
Born in Santo Domingo, the Betis left-back emigrated to Spain at the age of six and settled with his family in Benalmadena (Malaga), where he began playing football for Atletico Benamiel, Tiro Pichon and Puerto Malagueno before joining the Betis youth system.
The signing of Junior Firpo is the second signing made by Real Betis after the free transfer of goalkeeper Alvaro Valles, who spent a year on the sidelines at Las Palmas after refusing to renew with the Canary Island club.
