In a statement on social media, the Reading board confirmed the arrival of Mamadou Loum ahead of the upcoming Championship season. The Senegalese signed on loan for a season from Porto.
"We're delighted to welcome midfielder Mamadou Loum to Reading on a season-long loan from Porto. The Senegalese international flew to the country last night and completed the paperwork, althoug it is subject to international clearance and the normal ratification procedures from the relevant football authorities," the club said.
Mark Bowen, head of football operations at Reading, expressed his delighted at this signing: "Mamadou is a player we identified as a potential loan target early in the window and I am very pleased to now be able to welcome him to Reading.
"A powerful dynamic midfield player with top-flight and international experience on his CV, I am confident he will make a big impact in blue and white hoops in the Championship this season," Bowen said.
Although his rights belong to Porto, Loum, who is just 25, has come from playing on loan at Alaves, who he made 32 appearances for last season. However, Reading were captivated by his international experience. He plays for Senegal, just like Sadio Mane.
