Raya says Arsenal are ready to forge their own legacy

The Gunners secured a resounding 5-1 aggregate victory over the Spanish heavyweights, sealing wins in both legs and earning a place in the last four for the first time in over a decade. For Raya, it's not just a milestone — it's a sign that Arsenal are genuine contenders for European glory.
Speaking after the second leg, the Arsenal goalkeeper praised the team's approach and attitude. "Beating Madrid home and away, and doing it in the way we did — pressing high, defending with discipline, showing real attacking intent — it says a lot about where we are as a team," he said.
The Spaniard stressed the importance of staying grounded, but acknowledged the belief growing within the squad. "We've not been in a Champions League semi-final for a very long time, but now we have the chance to make our own mark. It's about taking each moment as it comes, not getting ahead of ourselves, but also daring to dream."
He also reflected on the challenge of facing a club with Real Madrid's pedigree. "Everyone knows what Madrid represent in this competition, but we weren't fazed. We came to the Bernabeu to play our game, stayed compact, created chances, and took control. It was a complete team performance."
Now set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals, Arsenal are closer than ever to a first Champions League title — and Raya believes they have both the quality and the mindset to go all the way.
"This group is ready," he said. "We've shown we belong at this level, and now it's about pushing even further. The dream is alive — and we're doing everything to make it real."
