Rubén de la Red, former midfielder of Real Madrid, said he was "surprised" by the two consecutive defeats of the team in the last days and, thinking about the future, he assured that if Raúl González, coach of Castilla, had to train the first team, he sees him as "capable".
Real Madrid faces the 'Clásico' against Barcelona at Camp Nou at a bad time for the team after two consecutive losses, against Cadiz in the League and against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
"I was surprised by the defeats because the team had been good at the beginning, but they are situations that can go through what we live with the COVID-19, the prohibitions and everything that surrounds this situation, which is new and to which we must adapt," said De la Red.
The former Madrid player did not want to point out anyone because of this dynamic of the team's results and assured that "when you win or lose, everyone has a responsibility".
"We will have to analyse why this has happened, Zidane will surely have detected it and will try to solve it," said De la Red.
"It's not going to be the same atmosphere as when you enter the field and the stadium is full. The one who is best prepared mentally is the one with the best chances," said De la Red, who took part in the Desafío Nacex, a solidarity paddle tennis tournament between former Real Madrid and Barcelona players.
As for Raúl González Blanco, the coach of Real Madrid Castilla, De la Red said that he sees the work he is doing in the subsidiary as "good".
"He is in charge of a young team, but the format in which he competes leaves no margin for error. From the outside I see him focused and the feeling he gives me is that he is capable and if he has to coach Real Madrid in the future he will do it well," he concluded.
