Ramos, at the height of the greatest international football!

The captain of the Spainish national team, will remain, alone, at the top. He will reach 168 matches, beating Casillas by one. Less than a quarter of a century ago there was only one player with more than one hundred matches with Spain, Zubizarreta; today there are already twelve 'centenarians'.

Ramos will displace Casillas and take his place in the select club of footballer's with the most games with their respective national teams. And it's no small thing, because there are real football legends on this list.

The absolute leader is Ahmed Hassan, with 184 appearances for Egypt. Mohammad Al-Deayea and Claudio Suarez represent Saudi Arabia and Mexico respectively, and then the world's first big star appears.

This is Gianluigi Buffon, an Italian goalkeeper who left the national team with 176 games behind him. He is the first star of this list, but not the only one, of course.

For Germany, Lothar Matthaus appears, with 155 games. Peter Shilton, the historic goalkeeper in the 70's and 80's, represents England. He left the national team with 125 games under his belt.

In France, Lilian Thuram continues to lead with 142 games, and in Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to break records, with 161 and counting.

Belgium are referring to a current player, as are Spain: Jan Vertonghen, one of only three centenarians in the country, with 117 matches, beating Hazard and Witsel, both with 103.

And their neighbours in the Netherlands have just said goodbye to their very own Wesley Sneijder, who retired with 134 games under his belt.

And in America? In addition to the aforementioned Claudio Suarez, we have Cafu for Brazil (142 games) and Javier Mascherano in Argentina (147, ahead of Zanetti and Messi, who have 145 and 136 games respectively).

We cannot forget about Uruguay, the country with the greatest success rate per capita in the history of football. Today, Diego Godin is the country's highest representative, with 133 matches played, many of them as captain of the national team.

It is clear that the player with the most international caps will not be able to take his place by chance.
