Ivan Rakitic is closer than ever from leaving Barcelona. Despite reaffirming again and again his commitment to the institution, his renewal has not been confirmed and the club, which is looking to make big changes, thinks his departure would be a good thing.
According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Barcelona and Inter Milan are very close to reaching an agreement for the sale of the 31-year-old Croatian international. Indeed, the operation could be closed in exchange for 50 million euros.
Rakitic has been fundamental since his arrival at Camp Nou from Seville. A protagonist with all the coaches he has had, the midfielder has been vital for a Valverde who has always praised him publicly. He has played up to 51 games just this season, with a whopping 45 of them in the starting eleven.
However, the club has seen the possibility of cashing in with Rakitic, since De Jong's arrival this summer might take away some protagonism for the Croatian.
In addition, Barcelona fans are upset with the player, due to his presence in Seville's fair a day after the elimination in Champions. An image that caused disenchantment in the club too, and has reportedly accelerated the negotiation with Inter Milan.
