At 36-years-of-age, Giorgio Chiellini is more fashionable than ever. The central defender was a vital part of Italy's Euro 2020 success at Wembley. However, despite his importante role, the player finds himself without a club.
His contract with Juventus terminated on 30th June 2021 and, having not reached an agreement to renew it, he became a free agent. This summer's tournament has done nothing but increase his value, regardless of his age. At Real Madrid in particular, they are alert to the situation. According to information revealed by Italian media outlet 'RAI Sport', new Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly requested the defender join the ranks for next season.
Chiellini may be without a club, but he's certainly not lacking suitors. The first name on the list is Juventus. While the 'Vecchia Signora' may have been unable to renew his contract, they haven't given up the cause and are looking to rely on him for at least one more season.
However Madrid, according to this source, are on the prowl. Those at the Bernabeu want to shore up the rearguard, which currently finds itself somewhat weakened following the departure of Sergio Ramos. David Alaba arrived in a huge signing which helped to reduce the significance of the Spaniard's exit, but the more than likely sale of Varane will leave the club once again on the hunt for reinforcements.
Chiellini finished his 16th consecutive season with Juventus in June. He arrived in Turin in 2005 from Fiorentina, where he was only at for a season after leaving Livorno. With Juventus, the veteran CB played 1,786 minutes last season across 25 matches in all competitions. In addition, the 'Azzurri' captain played five out of seven of his country's matches at the European Championships, in four of which he featured from start to finish.
