The 'Magpies' seem to be in complete turmoil off the pitch, after players refused to take part in media duties in a protest against bonus payments at the club.
Fans are becoming increasingly worried about the future of the club after negotiations have also broken down between Rafa Benitez and Newcastle over a new contract.
The Spanish manager is desperate for more investmenet in to the squad, and has even said that the players themselves want better additions to be made.
Speaking before the squad went on their strike, club captain Lascelles told 'Sky Sports' that Benitez has the full backing of the players.
"When he came in, he changed it the way he wanted to. It might have taken him a while to really get across to the players exactly what he wanted us to do. I know it did with me,"
"I can't reiterate enough how important he is,"
The centre-back believes that his manager is central to the success of the club moving forward.
"I don't know what is holding the club back, but we all know what we want as players and as staff, and, for me, I'd make him the happiest man here if possible." Lascelles added.
