'Certain decisions from the referee did not benefit us, but when you lose in such a way it cannot just be down to the referee', the German winger explained, believing his team were not up to the task.
'We played very badly and when you do that against the best in the world...', the PSG player continued, even recognising at one point he thought PSG would go through: 'After the 3-1 goal, I thought we would win'.
'Barcelona always had belief and played the game with the ambition of scoring goals. We were too defensive, unwilling to attack. It's complicated, when a team like Barcelona attacks and attacks, it is difficult to resist. There was no way to deal with the situation, specially in the first half. It was a truly bad night in which everything favoured them', the German regretted.
Draxler also conceded that the worst thing was the stadium's atmosphere: 'With the score at 3-0 we were nervous, specially with 90,000 people supporting Barcelona. I knew it was not our best day, but I couldn't imagine what was about to happen. Only players like Messi or Neymar are capable of scoring three goals in eight minutes'.
