Rabiot has a contract with PSG until June 2019. This means that if the club don't sell him this summer, and he refuses to sign a new deal, he will be able to leave for free next summer. However, it seems that the Ligue 1 champions aren't too concerned.
"PSG isn't a selling club," is the French side's response to Barca, according to the aforementioned outlet.
The Parisians are confident that they will be able to hold onto Rabiot, as they did with Marco Verratti in the face of Catalan interest in the past.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have faith that Rabiot will pressure PSG to let him leave. It is believed that the midfielder is open to leaving the Parc des Princes in order to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
'Marca' claim that the Spanish side have already made an offer for the Frenchman through his mother, who is also his representative. Rabiot seemed to be convinced by the project presented by Barcelona, which has led the club to believe that he will push to secure a move.
Rabiot isn't the only one on Barca's hit list though. The Catalan media also claim that Steven N'Zonzi and Paul Pogba are on the club's radar.
Barca don't want to start a war with PSG. If Rabiot wants to swap Ligue 1 for La Liga, he will have to play his part by convincing Al-Khelaifi to let him leave.
