Paolo di Canio said that he is not surprised that Mauro Icardi went to Paris Saint Germain because the defending Ligue 1 champions "are the natural habitat for ill disciplined players."
Icardi, the ex-Inter captain, joined PSG on loan on transfer deadline day this summer after being ruled out of contention by the new Inter boss, Antonio Conte.
PSG have the option to buy Icardi, who was linked with Napoli and Juventus in the days prior to the window closing. The Parisians can purchase him for 70 million euros at the end of the season.
The ex-striker Paolo di Canio, ex-Lazio, Juve, Napoli, AC Milan and West Ham, slammed Icardi after he moved to the French capital.
"Why would Carlo Ancelotti want anyone like Icardi at Napoli? Someone incapable of apologising to his teammates for the comments of his wife and agent," Di Canio told 'Il Mattino'.
He also criticised the way he plays. "In addition, Mauro only scores tap ins right on the goalline. Apart from that, he is incapable of doing anything that is expected of a modern striker," he added.
"I'm surprised in the slightest that he went to PSG, that is the natural habitat for ill disciplined players," Di Canio continued.
Icardi arrived at Inter from Sampdoria in 2013. He scored 111 goals in Serie A and 124 in all competitions. He left Inter, temporarily for now, as the eighth highest scorer in the club's history.
