PSG enhance security measures as Marseille showdown heats up

The Parc des Princes is set to host one of the most anticipated fixtures among the top five leagues this weekend, as Paris Saint-Germain take on Marseille on Sunday night. Aware of the tensions surrounding the clash, PSG have stepped up on security measures.
Fears about the 'Classique' getting potentially suspended have also prompted the Parisian to issue messages on social media encouraging its supporters to show respect, with the objective being clearly to prevent any unruly behavior in the stands and maintain the club's positive image.
"Sunday is a special day as our team will face Olympique Marseille at home, in our home. We are certain that this game will bring out passion and that our supporters will do their best to lift the team. But let's not turn that energy into hate," reads a campaign launched by the club
"Discriminatory chants have no place on our pitch. When we are supporters, we cheer and support. Without insults. Without exclusion. Without stigmatization." Paris Saint-Germain have already faced sanctions this season for homophobic chants and will be keen to avoid any further risks.
Classified as high-risk by the authorities (5 out of 5 on the national scale for combating hooliganism), the fixture will be overseen by a significant security presence. Hundreds of law enforcement officials will be deployed to ensure the event is secure and to prevent any incidents from occurring.
