'Marca', 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', the 'BBC' and the 'Times' have all received an outline of the proposed structure of FIFA's new summer competition.
The 24-team tournament would take place over two and a half weeks in June, the summer before the regular World Cup.
The clubs would be split into eight groups of three, with the winners of each progressing to the quarter-final stage.
Earlier speculation had already suggested which 12 teams from Europe would take part, including heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Out of the other 12, four would be from South America, two from Asia, two from Africa, two from North/Central America, one from the winner of a play-off between a team from Oceania and a team from South America and one from the host nation (their champion).
In terms of who will host the competition, it will not have to be the country holding the subsequent World Cup.
