Barca are making a team made to suit Xavi. That means thinking in the long term and not only in signings, but also in new contracts. The latest to pass through the offices will be Gavi and Araujo.
In the case of Araujo, Barcelona will have to make a move as soon as possible. And the central defender's good work has meant he is on the agenda of some English clubs, 'Mundo Deportivo' reports.
Chelsea could be a good option for the Uruguayan. The Blues could lose Rudiger, Christensen and Azpilicueta. The three see their contract expire in the summer and, at the moment, the club have not completed the contract renewal of any of them. They are therefore looking at Stamford Bridge for an emergency central defender.
Araujo's physical characteristics make him a perfect defender for English football. He has power, speed and determination and that could see him go to the Premier League if Barca do not stop him.
Araujo's contract runs at Barca until June 2023. There is no rush in that sense, but the club are working to keep him at the club beyond that date.
What plays in Barca's favor is that, the Catalan paper says he wants to stay at the Camp Nou. At the moment, those offers from England are on table, but the Uruguayan reportedly has no intention of leaving if Barcelona continue to see him as an important player in the future.
