Players to travel for World Cup just a week beforehand!

The Qatar World Cup will take place between 21st November and 18th December 2022. Footballers who take part in the tournament will link up with their national teams on 14th November. In other words, just one week before their first matches. It is a plan which 'L'Equipe' have leaked. 

If this is true, players and managers will face a very packed calendar. It is quite likely that many of them are playing in league matches on 13th November. This means mental and muscle fatigue which could influence their performances. 

The coaching staff will have to manage their players even more carefully than ever before in order to prevent injuries. This is especially important because even a minor injury could see a player miss the whole tournament. 

Managers and footballers have been warning publically for a while that UEFA and FIFA's fixture schedules could be dangerous for them. One of the latest to hit out at the packed calendar was Real Madrid and Belgium keeper Thibaut Courtois. In his opinion, organisations are only interested in money.
