Player dies during training in Italy
Another case similar to that of Puerta or Jarque within Italian football. The veteran player, Flavio Gagliardini, 35, who played for Civitavecchia in the fifth level of Italian football, lost his life on the field during a training session for the ‘nerazzurro’ club.
The incident happened just past eight o’clock in the evening, when the player suddenly fell over during a training drill.
His teammates instantly realized something was wrong, and immediately called an ambulance where Gagliardini was transferred to San Paolo hospital.
Doctors at the hospital attempted to save his life, but after entering cardiac arrest he was pronounced dead later that evening.
The sad news comes just 20 days after another tragic incident relating to Italian football, when Daniele Bruni, a goalkeeper who played for Cerveteri was run over outside the stadium by a drunk driver.
