Gerard Piqué is, for better or for worse, never one to hold his tongue when he speaks to the press. This time, he has spoken out about Barcelona's kit - but not the new controversial chequered home kit that is currently causing much debate on social media.
Catalan newspaper 'ARA' did a report on all the different shirts that Barcelona have worn during their history, with one of them being a white away shirt with blue shorts from the 1970s. 'ARA' then tweeted Gerard Pique to ask if he would dare wear the white shirt today, and his response was pretty clear.
"Of course! It's part of our history", reponded the defender on his official account, dismissing any contoversy that may come with Barcelona wearing the colour of their eternal rivals Real Madrid.
It is still to be seen what reaction this statement from Piqué generates, given that nothing the 32 year-old says falls on deaf ears.
Next season, Barcelona's away kit will be yellow with a blue and red stripe going across it horizontally. However, club president Josep María Bartomeu has already stated that he'd like to finish his tenure in charge with Barça wearing a historic kit. Will we see the Spanish champions wearing white again?
