The controversy surrounding players from both Real Madrid and Barcelona has continued to intensify since Gerard Piqués’ post-match-comments about Álvaro Arbeloa.

Pique and Arbeloa have managed to raise the tempers of not only their teammates, but also the directors at both clubs as well as players linked directly or indirectly. The latest person to feed fuel to the fire is former Real Madrid striker Carlos Alonso González, better known as Santillana.

The Spanish media are loving it as they have been able to print daily reactions from various players. Santillana told 'Gala AS del deporte’, that Pique needs to “Shut his mouth”, while ex Real Madrid and current Spanish national side captain Casillas has said that the bickering is ‘unpleasant’.

Only time will tell to see if this whole controversy will have an effect on the Spanish camp during the build up to Euro 2016.
