Fulham came out all guns blazing at the Emirates Stadium. The Cottagers, just 57 seconds after kick-off, were already leading 0-1 after Andreas Pereira scored the fastest goal of the current Premier League season so far.
The Fulham midfielder jumped onto a loose ball and catched out Aaron Ramsdale from distance to silence the Gunners fans and put Fulham ahead of Arteta's side.
Arsenal's reaction after the goal was excellent, dominating possession and attacking relentlessly. The Gunners looked to have got the equaliser they were looking for in the 41st minute when Odegaard beat Leno, set up by Havertz. However, the German received the ball offside before providing the assist for the Norwegian and referee Tierney disallowed the goal.
If Arteta's side drop points against Fulham, they would lose their chance of a third successive win. On the other hand, the Cottagers would get back to winning ways after suffering a thrashing by Brentford last week.
