Pellegrini happy with "comeback" despite Betis' "disconnect"

Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini highlighted "a comeback of great merit" by his players, but admitted that he does not understand "the disconnect" that his team had against Real Sociedad.

Pellegrini left San Sebastian, where Betis earned a valuable draw against Real Sociedad, with a smile on his face and praised "a worthy comeback at a difficult venue".

"It was a comeback of great merit, we didn't give up despite the 20 fatal minutes we had, I don't understand that disconnection. We had been close to opening the scoring. In the last few minutes we regained our conviction, we were able to equalise and if there had been more time left we could have won," explained the Chilean.

The Betis coach acknowledged that Real Sociedad's first goal "threw the Andalusian side into disarray": "Now we had the ability to organise ourselves, something we didn't have some time ago. They forgave us, we gave them a big advantage, but until the game is over...".

And he was optimistic about the performances of Tello and Joaquín, who were delighted to score the equaliser. "Many of them are coming back from the pandemic and have been out of training for many days. We have more variants, those who came on did very well, they gave a change to the game and with their quality we were able to put together plays that levelled the match", he concluded.
