Feyenoord's 22 year old Colombian, Luis Sinisterra has been chosen as the best young player of the 2021/22 Conference League. He played 12 matches in the competition, scoring six goals and making four assists for his team that fell at the final hurdle to Roma.
UEFA's panel recognised Sinisterra's performance throughout the tournament. The forward was a deserved winnner of the prize after scoring five times in the group stages, which included the first hat-trick of his professional career in a 5-0 win over Elfsborg. In fact, he was second only to his teammate Cyriel Dessers in terms of the Conference League's top goalscorers. Dessers notched a tally of 10 goals.
His passing accuracy (81.75%) was also highlighted by the panel along with his high work rate. This is reflected by the 10.5 kilometers he ran on average per game, as well as having an average speed of 32.8 km/h per game.
The UEFA panel also recognised Roma's Italian centremidfielder, Lorenzo Pellegrini as the player of the tournament. He appeared in ten matches, scoring four goals and making two assists.
The 25 year old Pellegrini was one of only two players to complete two crosses in the final. These form part of the 19 in total he recorded across the competition.
Dimitri Payet's goal in the first leg of the quarter finals between Marseille and PAOK, was chosen as the goal of the tournament. Payet was also chosen as one of the players in the team of the tournament.
