Not only has he been relegated to second place at PSG, in the eyes of his godfather and idol Pelé, Neymar also has to make do with second place, as he has been overtaken by Kylian Mbappé.
The legendary former Brazil star revealed the news in a long interview and took the opportunity to ask his compatriot to change some unhealthy habits in his game.
"Sometimes I talk to his father, I see Neymar for the headlines and it's difficult to defend him because of all the things he´s doing in football,"said Pelé, in relation to the way the PSG player moved to another side in spite of all of his promises to stay.
He continued:" I talked to him, I told him that I had football to spare. I have stayed with him twice recently in Europe, and we chatted and I explained to him that 'God gives you the gift of football. But what he did, this complicates everything."
As if these words were not enough motivation for the former Barcelona player, Pelé also wanted to give his contrasting opinion of Kylian Mbappé, something that everyone seems to want to do at present.
"All of you compare us. We are equal right? Mbappé is 19, and has won the World Cup. They sent me a video of it, a a tribute. It's been 40 years since I stopped playing. We seem very similar at that age," Pelé clarified while bursting into a smile.
To conclude, Pelé summarised his thoughts in a few words, and gave encouragement to Neymar so that one day he could become the best: "I think Neymar is a more complete footballer, but in Europe everyone talks more about Kylian Mbappé."
