Sporting Lisbon's Spanish right-back, Pedro Porro, was named defender of the month in September by the Portuguese league.
Porro, who was in the Spanish squad for the Nations League, got 19% of the votes, beating Lucas Verissimo (Benfica), who scored 16% of the votes, and Sebastian Coates (Sporting), with 14% of the votes.
The right-back played the three games of the month and was essential defensive and offensive wise, assisting against Oporto and scoring two goals against Maritimo and Estoril.
Porro says he is "very happy" for the award and thanked everyone who voted for him as well as his teammates. Last season, the Spaniard already won the award on multiple occasions, making it to the best XI of the league at the end of the season.
