Pedri's injury against Sevilla means the Spaniard will be out of action for Barcelona for some day. To start with, he will be unavailable against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey second leg clash which is on Wednesday. It does not look like he will play against Osasuna in La Liga either.
The club did not specify how long the young midfielder will be out for, although he did give more detail on the first tests done on Saturday. "The medical assessment and the tests carried out this morning (Sunday), have showed that first team player Pedri has a muscle strain in his left leg. He is out and his recovery will determine when he is back," the club statement said on social media.
Those who are most optimistic are talking about the player being back against PSG in the Champions League in 10 days time. However, given the 1-4 scoreline in the first leg, Koeman may decide to rest him.
The former Las Palmas man could return in approximately two weeks. That would be for the match against Huesca on 15th March.
What happened in recent days with men who were coming back from injury like Sergi Roberto and Araujo will serve as a lesson to Barcelona. They will try and not rush Pedri back before he is ready. Riqui Puig or newcomer Ilaix Moriba could fight for Pedri's spot.
